Every year, the flu causes widespread illness in the community and seasonal influenza rates are significantly up on last year. This workshop will concentrate on the importance of Immunisation & Flu Vax and why it's strongly recommended for older people and other people who are at risk of serious complications from the flu (such as pneumonia).
Combating Antibiotic Resistance
Session Overview:
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses one of the most important risks to our health today. AMR occurs when an organism develops resistance to an antimicrobial that is used to treat it. Bacteria resistant to medication can spread easily between people in the community, and especially in hospitals and aged care homes. Through this workshop you will be able to identify how you can help prevent antibiotic resistance and can take steps to avoid infections and prevent them from spreading.
