Skill Set Overview

This skill set is for individuals who use introductory care practices to support fully qualified carers within an aged care or disability support environment. Candidates who complete this skill set would be equipped with the skills and knowledge required to undertake job tasks to support fully qualified carers, such as making beds, providing assistance to maintain a clean environment and communicating with carers as part of the support service.

Pathway

This skill set is a pathway into the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support qualification. This skill set will allow you to commence work in an entry level care role, with the opportunity to upskill into the personal care role.

Work Placement

You will be required to complete work placement in a health service environment. Alpine Institute will organise placement within Alpine Health or other Health Services.

Placement will commence following the successful completion of all assessment requirements.

 

Assessment

To achieve the qualification, the student will need to:

  • Successfully complete compulsory practical training and observation in the workplace.
  • Successfully complete all assessment including Written Assessments, Case Study, Simulation/Observation, Online Quiz and Oral Assessment.

Entry Requirements

This course is open to candidates 18 years of age and over. Candidates seeking to undertake this course must have:

  • National Police Check – on commencement of this course all candidates are required to complete/have a current National Police Check within 36 months
  • Immunisation Evidence – Students are required to complete the Alpine Health immunisation status form prior to Enrolment. Current COIVD-19 Vaccination is a requirement.
  • First Aid Certificate – Students must present a current First Aid certificate prior to Enrolment. 
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy - Course applicants must complete a Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA) test to ensure the required language, literacy and numeracy levels are met for the course.
