This course is designed for those who intend to work in Aged Care services (residential care) and Home and Community Care (HACC) who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred care to people who may require support due to ageing.

This course will train students or formalise existing work skills to look after an older person’s care needs, support their individual health and wellbeing, follow safety procedures for direct care work and work effectively with the elderly. This course will provide the necessary foundations to embark on a care-giving career.

Delivery Method

This course is delivered by a combination of online tutorials, self-study learning materials, and ongoing tutor support and mentoring. Students are required to undertake online activities and self-paced learning (approximately 8 hours per week).

*This qualification can be delivered through a traineeship model.

Course Fees

Subsidised with Concession - $314.50

Subsidised Standard - $1,172.50

Full Rate - $3,772.50

  • Course fees include all materials and resources required including 1 x polo shirt.
  • There is a non-refundable amount of $100.00 required to secure enrolment, this amount counts towards your overall course cost. 
  • You may be eligible for government funding through the *Skills First Program Incentives 
  • This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible individuals.

Duration

This course is delivered online with weekly support tutorials, 7 simulation days and 120 hours of work placement, over a 6-month period.

Alternate duration and delivery schedules may be available depending on individual student needs. Please discuss your individual needs at the Pre-Training Interview.

Work Placement

As a compulsory component of this course, you will be required to complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement within Aged Care and Home and Community Care services. Alpine Institute will organise work placement. 

Placement will commence following the successful completion of theory assessments of units.

Assessment

To achieve the qualification, the student will need to:

  • Successfully complete compulsory practical training and observation in the workplace for a minimum of 120 hours.
  • Successfully complete all assessments including written assessments, case studies, simulation/observation, online quizzes and presentations.

Entry Requirements

First Nations people, people with a disability, and people from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Candidates seeking to undertake this course must have:

  • National Police Check – on commencement of this course all candidates are required to complete/have a current National Police Check within 36 months
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Immunisation Evidence – Students are required to complete the Alpine Health immunisation status form prior to Enrolment. Current COVID-19 Vaccination including 3rd dose/booster is a requirement.
  • First Aid Certificate – Students must present a current First Aid certificate prior to Enrolment.
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy - Course applicants must complete a Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA) test to ensure the required language, literacy and numeracy levels are met for the course.
